RyeTEK CMS - RyeTEK CMS Technical Information

This page describes some of the technical information about RyeTEK CMS for anyone who is interested.

RyeTEK CMS is written in VB.NET (Visual Basic) and uses Microsoft's ASP.NET 3.5 framework.

RyeTEK CMS is written using a three-tier architecture consisting of a presentation layer, business layer and data access layer.

RyeTEK CMS caches retreived database information thus reducing calls to the database layer and increasing speed.

RyeTEK CMS uses many of the available ASP.NET technologies such as AJAX, Membership, Roles, Master Pages and Themes etc.

RyeTEK CMS uses many of the available ASP.NET controls including the Login Controls and the ObjectDataSource data access control etc.

RyeTEK CMS has been designed to work in a medium trust environment with the following excepetions:
- If using MySQL you must create a custom trust level that is essentially medium trust with SocketPermission added. Alternatively installing the MySQL DLLs into the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) will solve this issue but typically shared hosting providers may not allow this.
- If using SQLite then full trust is required because the SQLite DLL is a mixed-mode assembly that requires p/invoke access to the SQLite library functions. Alternatively installing the SQLite DLL into the GAC should allow SQLite to work with medium trust (although I have not tried this). Again some shared hosting providers may not allow this.

RyeTEK CMS has 4 totally seperate and independant database access layers that can interface to the following database management systems:
- Microsoft's SQL Server
- Microsoft Access
- Oracle's MySQL
- SQLite
